DBAI is a platform for artists, researchers, writers, activists, designers, scientists, and community organizers. Its work questions how the legacies of colonialism, capitalism, heteropatriarchy, and white supremacy contribute to the marginalization and inequalities arising from algorithmic technologies, exploring strategies of resistance against these inequalities.
In this session, we will explore artistic practices that question the current technological landscape. From AI-generated memes on digital platforms to the remnants of ancestors marked by capitalism and colonial legacies. A gathering to celebrate creative resistance and the formation of coalitions, where art serves as a bridge to connect various disciplines, ideas, and communities. You will also have the opportunity to share your own projects!
Some of the featured resident artists who will participate:
- biarritzzz: a transmedia artist from Brazil who creates low-resolution magical counter-narratives to live through the current cosmological dispute of realities.
- Zainab Aliyu: a Nigeria-American artist and designer who examines how sociotechnological systems of control are interconnected and our material connection across time.
- Maithu Bùi: a German-Vietnamese artist and co-founder of the collective "Curating through Conflict with Care (CCC)" and the "art+computation" group of the Gesellschaft für Informatik. Her research explores the networks of violence at the intersection of collective history, science, and technology.
- Mac Andre Arboleda: a Filipino artist exploring the digital sphere through research and activism for digital rights, with a focus on internet freedom.
Other artists like Allapopp, Anasuya Sengupta, Seyi Akiwowo, and Xin Xin will also participate. These emerging voices are redefining how art can nurture community bonds and open paths to a freer future.
This event is primarily aimed at individuals with artistic projects that critically explore AI
