The Canòdrom community is a group of people and projects interested in bringing life to and growing the project of the Ateneu for Digital and Democratic Innovation. Based on our experiences, knowledge, and responsibilities, we organize ourselves to foster joint and shared decision-making among all of us who are part of it.
Canòdrom Principles
We are guided by three fundamental principles: continuous construction, a commitment to open code, and care and sustainability as essential elements.
Learning by doing, walking by asking
We do not have a pre-defined governance model because we imagine it through the people and collectives that inhabit the space. Therefore, we aim to build it in a shared, participatory, and continuous manner. It is through this plural process that ideas emerge and enrich our community.
Open code as both foundation and goal
Our organizational model draws from free software communities: open, transparent methodologies used to share knowledge.
Caring for the space and caring for each other
An intersectional perspective helps us identify the inequalities we generate as a space and as a project. We aim to find tools and resources to address these issues. We place care and the sustainability of life at the center of the Canòdrom, for the people who form it.
How do we organize?
The participation space is the Community Assembly, a monthly meeting where we share updates and proposals to improve the daily life of the Canòdrom. The assembly is also a permanent virtual space within our digital community.
The space's openness doesn’t stop there. Every four months, we meet with neighbors, inviting the local community to join and be part of this Ateneu. Stay tuned to our Community for announcements and opportunities to participate!
Residencies
The resident projects at the Canòdrom are those we host and support. They have been selected through open residency calls held so far and meet the thematic and methodological principles of our project, based on evaluations by independent juries. Currently, you can apply to:
Annual call for technology and democracy projects, offering residencies with stable workspaces. We pay special attention to projects that include a critical perspective on video games and those exploring the intersection of gender and technology.

Collaborators: A call aimed at individuals and organizations that, while not seeking a fixed workspace, wish to develop part of their activities within our community and in the Canòdrom space.

Research
The strength of the Canòdrom as a space for reflection and research lies in its network of relationships with reflection spaces, research groups, and researchers.
We build our research ecosystem with collaborators who help us rethink the intersections between technology, participation, innovation, and society. Collaborations with Tecnopolítica – UOC, Elisava, and the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the UAB shape this reflective space, which is open to new collaborations.
Beyond this rich and diverse ecosystem, we maintain a permanently open call for resident projects specializing in research.
