When summer arrives, we open the Canòdrom Steps and transform the square into a shared space where cinema invites us to reflect, feel, and resist together. This July, every Friday, the Canòdrom square becomes a meeting point for those who love open-air cinema and for those seeking stories that challenge, move, and inspire.
The Open Steps Cinema series in 2025 is grounded in the values promoted by the Canòdrom: democracy, technology, and social justice. It also dialogues with the exhibition “How to Design a Revolution: The Chilean Way to Design”, and invites us to look beyond the center—towards the global South, towards silenced voices, towards feminist and grassroots struggles that are transforming the world from the bottom up.
We begin with Flow, a delicate animated fable made with free software about coexistence, difference, and adaptation. We continue with No, a Chilean film that shows us the power of design and communication in defeating a dictatorship. Later, we delve into Iran’s reality with The Seed of the Sacred Fig, a brave portrait of women organizing to resist patriarchal oppression. And we close with El 47, a story as real as it is powerful about neighborhood pride and the Barcelona built from its working-class districts.
Organized by the District of Sant Andreu and the Canòdrom – Digital and Democratic Innovation Hub, every Friday in July you have a date with great cinema, critical thinking, and the open air.

El 47

A true story about neighborhood struggle and working-class dignity in Barcelona, 1978. Manolo Vital, a bus driver, dismantles an institutional lie through an act of defiance that will help reshape the city.
