Community

The Canòdrom community is a group of people and projects interested in bringing life to and growing the project of the Ateneu for Digital and Democratic Innovation. Based on our experiences, knowledge, and responsibilities, we organize ourselves to promote joint and shared decision-making among all those who are part of it.

Canòdrom Principles

We are guided by three fundamental principles: continuous development, an open-source vocation, and care and sustainability as indispensable elements.

Learning by doing, walking by questioning

We do not have a predefined governance model, as we envision it collectively among the people and groups inhabiting the space. We are committed to building it in a common, participatory, and continuous manner. It is in this plural process that ideas emerge and our community is enriched.

Open source as a foundation and goal

Our organizational model is inspired by free software communities: open, transparent methodologies focused on knowledge sharing.

Caring for the space and for each other

The intersectional perspective helps us identify the inequalities we generate as a space and a project: we aim to find tools and resources to address these challenges. We place care and the sustainability of life at the center of Canòdrom, for the people and by the people who shape it.

How do we organize?

The participation space is the Community Assembly, a monthly gathering where we share updates and proposals to improve Canòdrom's daily life. The assembly is also a permanent virtual space within our digital Community.

The openness of the space goes beyond this. Every four months, we meet with neighbors, reaching out to the local community to engage and be part of this Ateneu. Stay tuned to our Community to join upcoming calls!

Collaborators

The resident projects at Canòdrom are those we host and support. They have been selected through the permanent collaborator calls held so far and align, according to independent jury evaluations, with the same thematic and methodological principles of our project. Currently, you can apply for:

Stable collaborators: The annual selection process for technology and democracy projects, offering stable workspaces. We place special emphasis on hosting projects that incorporate a focus on video games with a critical perspective and projects exploring the intersection of gender and technology.

Check the selection process for the Stable Collaborators modality

Collaborators: A selection process aimed at individuals and organizations that, without requiring a fixed workspace, wish to develop part of their activity with our community and within the Canòdrom space.

Research

Canòdrom's strength as a space for reflection and research is based on its network of relationships with research spaces, research groups, and researchers.

Our research ecosystem is shaped by collaborators who help us rethink the intersections between technology, participation, innovation, and society. Collaborations with Tecnopolítica – UOC, Elisava, and the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UAB shape this reflective space, open to new collaborations.

Beyond this rich and diverse ecosystem, we maintain a permanently open call for research collaboration projects.
