Dancing to the Rhythm of Memories

The community, the bond, and the movement are protagonists of the new collective exhibition at Congrés i els Indians. “Dancing to the Rhythm of Memories” is a photographic exhibition that has at its heart the neighborhood, breaking barriers through catharsis and revolution. It’s a vision of dance in the neighborhood as a communitarian and intergenerational art over the years: from the professional majorette show during the Dervi days at the old Canòdrom in the 1980s, to the talent and rhythm of the neighbors during the local festivities, as well as the evolution of community activities up to the present.

The exhibition is born thanks to the photographs contributed by neighbors, but not only. It has also been the neighborhood through a collective curatorial process who have chosen the photographs and drawn the invisible thread that connects each and every one of the memories behind them. The collective curatorial process has been open but has been articulated through “We Make Memories“: a group of people who meet every Friday at Canòdrom to reconstruct and document the collective memories of Congrés i els Indians.

The exhibition is also collective in its exhibition format, as to experience it fully one must visit the spaces of Can Clariana, the Community Center of Congrés i els Indians, and Canòdrom. In each of these spaces, we find memories that connect and expand the journey through the rhythm and feeling of belonging to the neighborhood. The exhibition is part of the Sant Andreu 2024 Calidoscopi Cultural program.
