The research provides an initial analysis of the state of diversity in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector in Catalonia, aiming to identify areas where biases affecting equality and non-discrimination may arise.
The study gathers and analyzes information from companies, research centers, universities, conferences, and associations involved in the study, design, development, promotion, and commercialization of AI. It also evaluates how AI applications currently used by the Government of Catalonia incorporate diversity and assesses the level of risk their use may pose to human rights.
To reduce discriminatory biases, the research offers a series of recommendations to improve diversity in the AI sector in Catalonia, with international examples of successful approaches to this challenge.
