Nelly is 8 years old and has just lost her grandmother. While helping her parents to empty the house where her mother grew up, she explores the forest that surrounds it, where her mother used to play as a child. There Nelly meets another girl of her age, and the immediate connection between the two leads to a beautiful friendship. Together they build a cabin in the forest and, between games and confidences, they will reveal a fascinating secret.
The director of "Retrato de una mujer en llamas", Céline Sciamma, sings a beautiful story about childhood and motherhood that fell in love with the audience at the Berlin Festival. "Petite Maman" captures the mystery of a daughter's love for her mother as few films have done. An apparently simple film, with magic and fantasy inside, that excites until the last moment. A particular story, but of totally universal emotions.
